Gĩkũyũ is written in the Latin alphabet with two extra vowels, ĩ and ũ, each carrying a tilde. A font is listed here only when both vowels are in the released files, in capitals and small letters, and when they draw correctly whether they are typed as a single character or as a letter followed by a combining tilde (U+0303), which some keyboards and phones produce.
Every listed font is also checked for the apostrophe in ng’ and for accents that touch, collide or are cut off.
Characters Insert a letter, accent or apostrophe at the cursor.

How these fonts are checked
Every claim on this page comes from the released font files, tested with the same shaping engine browsers use and with no fallback font allowed to fill a gap. Three things are tracked separately:
Characters checked: every required letter in capitals and small letters, every accent and the punctuation of everyday text is in every file.
Rendering checked: letters typed as one character and as a letter plus combining accent look the same; accents sit on their letters without touching, colliding or being cut off; i and j lose their dot under an accent.
Language review: a fluent speaker has read this font in this language and confirmed it. Until then a font shows “Language review pending”.
